We are celebrating 2022 with you as it comes to a close. What have you:
- Learned?
- Accomplished?
- Enjoyed?
- Overcome?
- Lived through?
Many of us move from one project to another, one goal to another, one task to another without even pausing to breathe. Yet, stopping to notice, witness our experience, and celebrate for even a moment the smallest step – can be life-giving.
Sharon: An executive team I worked with had a problem. Although they were highly successful, most were unhappy, feeling pressured, and burnt out.
Through consultation, they decided to try something new. They would start every department meeting and every executive meeting with 5 minutes of celebration. Anyone could offer something worth noting in one sentence. Some people worried it would add time to the meeting and wouldn’t work. But they agreed to give it a try.
“We met with the client, and they are pleased.”
“We completed one tricky step in this sticky project.:”
“We’ve hired a perfect person for our team.”
“My daughter learned to ride her bike.”
In response to that last one, there was spontaneous applause. People began to share more personal comments.
When they polled the team to evaluate this pilot, everyone was amazed at the results. The happiness and work satisfaction of these executives had increased markedly. The team’s productivity stayed high.
Celebrate,
