Awareness in action

Woman stuck in a box, but peeking out with awareness.

Awareness is the first step in any change.

I was at an event with a friend I’ll call Judy. She pulled me aside to tell me she’d just overheard a complaining conversation between several people. Judy felt judgmental about them. She felt that their complaints came from a snooty place.

Judy saw the irony as she went down a judgmental path – complaining in her mind about complaining people. That path made her quite miserable.

This new awareness pushed her to examine her own shortcomings. Gently, Judy dropped both complaining and feeling superior to the others. She stopped going down the judging path. She felt liberated. She was so happy she had caught herself!

Judy and I got to celebrate her freedom together.

Awareness is the first step in any change. It allows us to see the need for change and motivates us to take action.

When our awareness grows, we see more and can work towards personal growth and improvement.

When our awareness grows, we see the issues facing our world and can work towards creating a better legacy for future generations.

Be the solution,

This week’s challenge: Watch yourself from a kind and compassionate heart for just one thing you can change. Let your awareness become action.
