Cool off

A dog getting sprinkled with a garden hose on a summer day.

Here we are in the deep summer heat.

Cooling off is what’s needed.

When I’m out watering my garden on these hot evenings, I shout to anyone walking by, “Want me to squirt you?” Almost to a one, child or adult, they say, “Yeah, please.” I squirt and we laugh together.

It matters little if it is hot from the sun or from our own stresses or frustrations.

There is something about being playful when we are hot that is unexpected, surprising even, but oh, so welcome.

Set yourself free on one of these hot days. Squirt yourself. Take your whole team outside and invite them to squirt themselves or each other. Laugh together, then return to work and see what unexpected directions emerge.

Cool off,
